Unlike other forms on the Platform, here **you can't save without testing first**: the **Save and connect**
button stays disabled until a test with the form's *current* data succeeds on both IMAP and SMTP at once.
If you change any field after a successful test, the permission to save is invalidated and you have to test
again — this way we prevent you from saving a configuration you never actually verified.

1. Fill in the full form (section 4).
2. Tap **Test connection**.
3. Wait for the result: the Platform attempts a real login against your IMAP server and your SMTP server.

**Result:** a "Test result" panel with one row for **IMAP (incoming)** and another for **SMTP (outgoing)**,
each with its own ✅ **Success** or ❌ and a message with the specific problem.

| Message | Cause |
| --- | --- |
| Incorrect username or password (IMAP/SMTP) | Wrong credentials — check the username and password; if your provider requires an app password (section 5), confirm it's that and not your normal password. |
| Couldn't connect to the server (IMAP/SMTP). Check the host and port | The server or the port aren't correct, or the server isn't responding from outside. |
| The server didn't respond in time | Timeout reached — wrong port or the server was down at that moment. |
| The SMTP server doesn't support STARTTLS with this configuration | The chosen port doesn't match the checked encryption — check your provider's port/STARTTLS combination. |

With the correct data, both rows switch to ✅ **Success** and the **Save and connect** button becomes
enabled:
